>>45262704How much does Game Freak make per sale? Unfortunately, I couldn’t find an exact number for the production cost of a Nintendo Switch cartridge; all we know is that it costs more to produce them than Blu-Rays and DVDs. Let’s take away $20 as the production cost of a physical Nintendo Switch cartridge by using Puyo Puyo Tetris as an example.
https://www.pcmag.com/news/cartridges-mean-switch-games-will-always-cost-moreAfter we take away a rough production cost per physical cartridge, we’ll simply make it an even split between Nintendo, Game Freak, and The Pokemon Company.
(60-20) / 3 = 13.34
So how much money has Game Freak made?
$18,220,000 * 13 = $236,860,000
Let’s deduct the development cost to total the estimated revenue.
$236,860,000 - $30,000,000 = $206,860,000
If Game Freak makes just $13 per sale of Pokemon Sword and Shield, then they would’ve made $206,860,000. Keep in mind that this number doesn’t factor in:
- Digital sales of Pokemon Sword and Shield (if it’s not included in the 18,220,000 units)
- Digital sales of the Expansion Passes
- Pokemon HOME subscriptions
- Poke Ball ++
- The strategy guide (if any)
tl;dr If Game Freak made roughly $200,000,000 profit on Pokemon Sword and Shield alone, then it’s impossible for them to have not made similar profit margins on past games. The argument that Game Freak can’t request additional funds, time, or manpower, let alone have access to these resources, is indubitably bullshit.
If your reply is something along the lines of “words words words” or “akshually this is all hypothetical”, then don’t bother posting it. You’ve already lost.
