Probably, I have a shitload of “rare” cards but I don’t feel attachment to most of them for some reason. Even the base set Charizard doesn’t register in my head that I actually own it.
My Delta Species Jolteon is probably my favourite though.

Yes, same applies to every other card game as well unless you want to play starter deck casual or draft formats.

But we're mid-epidemic and local game shops are bleeding money due to it so that might not be viable.

They did it for a few reasons. They wanted gen 5 to be a sort of reboot gen in the style of gen 1. Gen 1 had pokemon powers, which functioned as a catch all for poke powers and bodys, so they figured that combining them would envoke the style of gen 1 better. They also did it to simplify the game. Pretty shit idea in that regard.

Last year, I managed to shoplift hundreds of packs from local target stores over the course of 5 or 6 months. Pulled so much shit that I managed to make a few hundred bucks from selling to card shops/over facebook and still have a nice collection of secret rares and holos for myself. Fuck buying cards, just shove like, 30 packs into your coat pockets the next time you go out and profit.

Guys it's literally cardboard with (in most cases) shitty art some nobody was paid $20 to make. The 'rarity' is entirely artificial and unlike Magic, nobody actually plays this game anymore. The game couldn't draw enough of a crowd to justify updating their trashcan e-versions of the game.
