>>45272084There are good and bad games, but Pokémon ones are pretty similar in average quality. What differs among them is game design choices, which you can like more, or less. For example I have a love/hate relationship with Sinnoh because it's too samey despite having amazing exploration, and a bad color palette overall for graphics; the characters and lore did nothing to me; the difficulty is on point. Meanwhile, I really liked even og Hoenn (r/s) because of how different it felt from previous gens, colorful, varied, pretty challenging (even though not that much), adventurous, but it still had issues in Pokémon distribution and needed a bit of qol around the water routes (which miraculously the remake gives, lessening their tedium). If I were to talk about the Alola games though, I wouldn't be able to compare them to gen 2 or 3: they have a way different idea in mind. Exploration is lessened, and you get a cinematic experience with linear progression. SwSh has yet another idea in mind, repeating linear progression but adding the wild areas concept, changing the playstyle quite a bit. You can like Alola style more, you can like Sinnoh style more, you can like Galar style more. But the level of quality on average is still very similar, they just go for different game design ideas you can like more, or less. SUBJECTIVELY.
