This thing is a really good support mon in VGC.

the only thing holding this thing back is its bulk, but with a focus sash and some investment that could be fixed, also saw that Raichus Usage went up a lot.

Thoughts?

Raichu is great, my favorite Pokemon of all time. Been using him competitively in VGC since XY. He's a blast to have and I'm glad he's good. Its probably gone up in usage due to the new regi and koko but I don't follow SwShit so I can't say for sure.

Raichu's typing is far superior for a support pokemon and zing zap/iron head coming from less than 100 attack are pathetic. Also this thing is slow.

Don't like that you can't use your full team in a battle even though why I get why that's the case (its for tournaments and battles are slow as hell) and Smogon having metas for shitmons is pretty nice. Really Smogon just needs to abandon the sinking ship thats singles and switch to 6v6 doubles but they'll never do that as long as people crave singles. Even in the cart metas there's as many singles players as doubles players

Only using 4 out of 6 mons is also a format design choice - since the tournament matches are best of 3, the 2 Pokemon you dont pick act like a sidedeck of sorts that you can use if the first 4 mons dont do the trick. There is less of a risk of ”losing at the team preview” which happens often in high level smogon matches.

Fast Fake Out support, same as Raichu. Since he ran Xern instead of Ray his team likely appreciated having STAB Fire moves that could beat things like Bronzong and Amoonguss.

Raichu is the evolved form of the mascot. It's bound to get some trickle-down benefits. Especially in the moves department.

A best of 3 ruleset for online ranked would be nice. The only pick 4/6 is just there for it.

Its the same thing with tcgs, the best way to play Magic is best of threes so you can use a well made sidedeck to move around a bad deck match up, it's the same with VGC. You build a core and the rest is there as options for bad match ups to your core. If Magic Arena can have options for ranked best of 3 and best of 1s theres no reason why Pokemkn can't outside of GF oversight.

Its not a matter of an individual Pokemon being too powerful, some team comps naturally have a losing matchup to other team comps. Its especially common if the metagame is diverse which is what smogon generally aims for and always ends up biting them in the ass. Thats why the hide battle button was introduced, folks at high level singles ladder would go to public matches and matchup fish to get almost a guaranteed win against whatever the other guy was using.
