The Pokemon world itself is fun to insert yourself into and since there are so many regions and canons it's extremely flexible
Want the darker version of Kanto from the early games? Knock yourself out.
Prefer the more comfy and safe Galar? Go for it and the boys there have a solid base to build from plus the region can be built upon.
With all the different canons there are even different versions of the same characters to choose from too.
Pokemon allows for a lot of headcanoning but relies on your imagination.
Thats also why this community is especially creative I think. I've been in a lot of fandoms but Pokemon is always one where I see people really sink their teeth in.
