I don't understand why retards use tapu fini so much. What is it going to do? Defensive pokemon with no recovery, in a doubles format. Can't even burn with scald because of the terrain. The terrain itself isn't even that useful. Am i missing something or low ladder shitters just like wasting team slots?

It certainly rips a chunk out of it no matter what.
And the most efficient way to guarantee it survives an Eruption requires 56 HP EV's, only leaving room for 196 Atk EV's.
>252+ SpA Heatran Eruption (150 BP) vs. 56 HP / 252 SpD Glastrier: 300-354 (84.5 - 99.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Or if you want to max out EV's to have bulk on both sides, you need to run 92 SpD EV's, which means only 160 Atk EV's.
>252+ SpA Heatran Eruption (150 BP) vs. 252 HP / 92 SpD Glastrier: 338-402 (83.6 - 99.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Either way, it's not a small sacrifice.

Variability control + fantastic typing

Misty terrain prevents a lot of bullshit (freezes, paralysis, burns, etc)

Fini’s typing leaves very few openings to ohko it

Its speed is middling tier which means it functions well in trick room or tailwind

I could go on and on. This pokemon has won worlds twice for a reason (2017 & 2019) and its because it removes variability
