None of my friends who were girls were comfortable talking about their periods and in fact a girl in my 8th grade class dropped a tampon out of her purse one time and got teased relentlessly for it from boys and girls both.
Kids are mean. Kids are insecure.
The last thing they need are adults making them feel even more troubled and ashamed about a natural part of life.
