Japanese use curved swords too. Katana is curved so people can pass it as both katana and scimitar with correct execution. Double bladed western sword will never look good on asian subjects.

The thing in OP's Incarnate form was obviously an afterthought, the turtle was made to complete the set of the cardinal direction guardians.

Enlighten me about why it's a turtle. I don't know anything about the Four Heavenly Kings, except that the guardian of the north is seen as the god of war in Japan.

The guardians of the four directions are a tiger(Landorus), a phoenix(Tornadus), a dragon(Thundurus) and a turtle, they also represent colors, virtues and seasons of the year. Sadly only the one in OP actually follow the coloration of the mythical beast. There is also a fifth animal which is a golden dragon called Huanglong that dominates over the other four and represents the center.

It's sword is based on the Kusanagi no Tsurugi. One of sacred objects of Japan.
The sword is also supposedly a sword that was retrieved from the tail of a water dragon by Susanoo a japanese ocean god. So that's probably the kami it's based on.
