There have been random object pokemon since first gen, like magnemite etc. just being magnets and screws and shit.
I know where you're coming from completely because I used to be the same to an extent, but they're really not that bad.
Shit like Mr. Mime are way worse imo.

Agree, but where most people complain about the current inanimate object pokemon is that they're way more common and not many people were ever huge fans of Magnemite like they were of the animal/mythological pokemon. Jinx and Mr. Mime are shit but they got glossed over too.

Ehh, maybe it's just me but I actually like them. Also a lot of them are ghost types haunting stuff like tea sets or coffins or something.
I feel like it opens up more avenues than just the same animals repeatedly but hey, there are mons I like to ignore too.
Like the fucking Ultra Beasts, those can die in a goddamn fire.

They're definitely an eccentric taste but I think they're best on Ghost types. Yeah the Ultra Beasts are one of many examples of Legendary design becoming too surreal, it's like they tried to blend the animal designs with the inanimate designs

Nah its pokemon that need to hold shit and use items etc. Like pic related. Perfectly good design ruined because it magically has a drum appear every where it goes. Pokemon were originally based on animals and bugs but what creature irl relies so heavily on an item to the point that it isn't considered that creature if the item doesn't exist or is missing. Hate them all honestly. Delphox kinda gets a pass
