After Generation III, all of the new pokemon, except the starters, lucario-variant, pseudos and legends, should have just been different regional forms/evolutions. It would have made it easier to design new models if most new ones were made off a pre-existing skeleton, and it would keep the presentation and brand more consistent across generations.
