I'm back for one specific case
Some people may wonder why Electivire was the butt of all jokes in Gen 4 OU: It has great coverage & that 123 Attack looks pretty solid: Infernape's got less than that and it's a meta defining threat. Of course, Infernape is faster, but there's more to it.
A common issue plaguing Electivire that people cant really put into perspective is just that Electivire is hardly ever getting the kills it needs to get: It just doesnt hit hard enough. Just how much could Base Power on moves matter?
Well, here's just how much Attack Electivire would need to deal the same damage as its actual counterpart, but using coverage moves with 100 BP, instead of the 75 BP of the elemental punches it uses in Gen 4 ( Thats obviously excluding Cross Chop & EQ which are already of high enough BP )
I think it puts things into perspective quite nicely and deflates the Electivire appeal quite harshly.
