>2ndYes you can. CT has the ability to catch every legendary and ultra beast with a 100% catch rate and even shiny. It is by far the best pokemon game to start with if you are a Catch ‘Em All type. As before that, it took multiple generations. If you started with Platinum, you needed a game from gen 1 (or Orre), gen 2 (or the other orre game), gen 3, and gen 4 to catch all of the legends.

However characters like Peony, Peonia, Marnie, Piers, and Bede are very well written, Peony specifically being one of the best characters in any pokemon game. Also that “general rule” is subjectove garabge, I’ve played everything since crystal, don’t like any of the games between platinum and SnS. XY being my least favourite by far.

XY is not objectively better than sns in any way, and any preference of it is strictly bias from it being your first game in the series, and most people love their first pokemon experience the most. I don’t, I liked Orre and Emerald the most, I did not enjoy Crystal as much as them. Liking XY is fine, but it really is not superior to anything later, maybe better than Sun or Moon if you didn’t like the islander locale.
