I don't understand the hate for Primeape sure there are some stronger Kanto fighting types but he's pretty damn good early game and could be a huge powerhouse later on depending on what TMs you teach it

Fighting types in gen 1 are rubbish. Part of the reason why Ice was one of the best type in gen 1 was the same reason why Psychic was one of the best types, because all of the types the countered it sucked, with the exception of Rock.

It's one of the only fighting Pokemon that has a good design and it's either "literally a dude" or "fighting for no reason".
The entire type should still be deleted, but Mankey/Primeape can stay.

as far as gen 1 was concerned, the only fighting type better than primeape was machamp.
The Hitmons and Poliwrath were mediocre. Primeape was viable because of its speed.
