>>45306468Gen 3 is my favorite gen. I started with gen 4 and played gen 3 after, didn't really think much of it since it didn't have wifi or anything but I enjoyed it. Over time however I've come to really appreciate it, shit like the masterful region layout, the enormous jump is route quality, the subtle yet important changes to how stats worked, the improved berry system, the entire contest battles system which was a really good way to get more mileage out of existing moves and create interesting dynamics, abilities which are arguably the biggest addition to battle mechanics second only to the special split of gen 2.
Also I just love the aesthetic, the feeling of venturing across a land rich with lush vegetation, and rocky mountains, and salty shores, the grass wet with dew, it's peak adventure setting.
Also, the pokemon designs are simply my favorite, hit's the perfect balance of originality, and manages to be detailed without feeling overdesigned.
I genuinely love RS, and even tho emerald is obviously the better version, I think RS are the strongest base games outside of GS.
FrLg are also great, playing through rn, extremely comfy.
