I like these threads, let's do another one, where we point out elements of a pokemon's design/inspiration that you think others might have missed.
I was wondering why the whole Hatenna line has those white circular spots on their hair; I used to think it was supposed to be light reflecting off of them but no, they're an actual part of their hair color. I was questioning why they all have them, and then it hit me that they're probably supposed to be like the white spots on cartoony depictions of mushrooms, like the Mario ones. So the line is supposed to invoke whimsical fairy mushrooms a little bit, along with all the witch/princess stuff. That also helps explain why they have those pastel colors and why Hatterene is shaped the way it is.
