Only because the advances in the series Gamefreak wanted to make were not recieved by fans because people didnt like being made to use unfamiliar pokemon for the main story. It was the fans that caused the downfall.

Gen 5 is where the issues that plague us today arose but is in of itself good due to having a 4+ year developement, and good direction, XY were rushed and the jump to 3ds made the consequences of that even worse, the rest of the games have been directed by ohmori and had short development time

The only bad things to come out of Gen 5 were the designs. Everything else about BW and B2W2 were great.

No. It was the backlash from gen 5 that started it, at the time genwars were at an all time peak, and the genwunners ended up getting the last laugh, this is why there is so much kanto shilling, because of gen 5, people couldn't adapt to change even if they wouldn't touch the series after. Gen 5 itself was a good gen objectively.

Gen V was a great game regardless of the bullshit people complained about.

IMO Gens 1 & 2 were the best, Gen III was faggy, Gen IV was surprisingly kino and Dawn is arguably the best poke girl protagonist.
No opinion on Gens V-VII (Elesa is pretty hot) since I had no interest in them and VIII has some very cute girls
