I’m replaying hgss on an old ds. Wtf am I supposed to do when theres an area that’s too high level for my pokemon?

How are you so bad at pokemon of all games that you get tripped up enough by a game you've already played before that you're asking for help. Have you no memory? Have you never used google?

if youre swapping out and rotating your team too much youll be underleveled like any gen 1-4 game and will need to grind against wild pokemon.

if youre sticking with the same group of mons in hgss, youll still be underleveled but you csn still win pretty easily. no reason why you cant blow through the e4 with a high 30s team if youre familiar with the game.

Just go back into Union Cave and one shot the Rock/Ground types with you feel Bellsprout is at a more decent level, it honestly doesn't take long.

Geodude should be able to take most of Gastly and Zubat. Press Vine Whip with belsprout.
If it gets bited to much level Bel to 13 and put Croc to sleep
