Gen 3 had good designs but the ones that sucked were really garbage to Digimon tier.

I remember being 8 when Ruby came out and thinking Groudon didn't look like a pokemon at all on the boxart, in fact I thought Ruby and Sapphire were bootlegs with how ugly Kyogre, Groudon and the overworked sprites looked in game.
It wasn't until the anime that all the Pokemon designs made sense to me.

They took a random monster, colored it red, added spikes and lines, and went overboard with saying "it's not spiky enough" and added points to every segment of its body. Plus it doesn't look like it can fucking move, so they fucked up there.

where are the bad designs here? wailmer looks pretty goofy. lombre does too. but i can't see any other pokemon i'd call aesthetically poor.
