The last time Game Freak put effort into a Pokemon was Pokemon BW2, and it was critically panned by fans for being too different from the other games. Why should GF put any effort if the same thing will happen?

Bums me out because triple battles were more complex than doubles but never got a chance because they didn't get doubles' shilling
It felt like g5 was trying to be an evolution in every aspect (story, gameplay, connectivity) but they backpedaled on most of it because mainline can never rock the boat

It just shows how bad the other stories are in comparison, considering that what would be a Naruto OVA plot is the best the entire franchise has ever had in terms of the story.

Yeah, for triple battles I really had to think about what I ought to do (in PWT).
Like if I had a powerful mon that could kill another, who should I kill? Who is a bigger threat? If I send a mon in the middle, it can attack anyone, but it can be attacked by anyone. If I send a mon to the side, I could avoid the mon on the opposite side. It adds a new dimension to battles.

BW1's plot is not good but tying Team Plasma's plot with the league challenge and reducing the power level of the legendaries were pretty good ideas. If they kept improving on the writing then we could've had something genuinely great by gen 8

Much worse in BW. You have three trainers that all use the elemental monkeys for what feels like every goddamn route. Earlygame distribution is much more boring than any other pokemon game (in BW, not BW2)
