What the fuck do you mean that most GMaxes are simple exaggerations or memes? The ones that fall under this are pretty much just The Kanto starters minus Blastoise (who becomes a battleship), Eevee, Melmetal, and Meowth. Past that, each one either adds a new inspo or expands upon the one present. Orbeetle becomes a UFO that mass projects its mind control, Kingler becomes a LITERAL King Crab, Snorlax's leftovers in its fur sprout into a tree and foliage, the Urshifu forms exaggerate their concepts with smooth waves and striking jagged patterns, Pikachu's tail becomes a lightning bolt that trails right from the sky (exacerbated by the Dynamax clouds being around it), etc. There were just as many Megas that did nothing but exaggerate traits, like Swampert, Ataria, Abomasnow, Blaziken, Lucario, the Kanto Starters (again) etc. On the flipside, plenty ALSO expanded the theme, like Audino become a full-on nurse, Sceptile's tail growing into a pine and becoming detachable, Sharpedo become a sawtooth shark, etc. This philosophy divide was present in BOTH gimmicks.
