Honestly one of the better post games for catching mons and I enjoyed the rainbow rocket mission with all the music remixes. That's how you do fan service imo. Battle Tree was about average for post game battling.

Did it have a good story? Eh. Too much handholding and the fact the only challenging part was Ultra Necrozma(who isn't always a challenge, especially if you're not retarded and/or intentionally limiting yourself,) kinda sucked. It did have a lot to do postgame though, but very little of it had to do with battling or was even challenging. Was great for catching all sorts of pokemon though, and I liked some of the random events you could find just randomly, like the really sweaty hiker and the dead guy's dartrix. 6/10

mechanically it was ok but the cameos were fun, it actually surprised me how some chars got 3d models pretty much just for that - grimsley, cynthia, colress, to a lesser extent anabel, guzma, plumeria and wally were updated, etc

Battle Tree is better than Battle Tower in RS, Crystal, DP, and SWSH, but worse than Battle Maison because Battle Maison has more battle formats

I'd argue too that updating and making characters older, like they did with red and blue, is another way to do some fan service. It's a nice way to update designs and makes the world feel like it's moving forward. But I would take some rocking music remixes and updated teams that have a real challenge any day for Pokemon.
