Most newer gens' mons are usually designed with one 'core' aspect in mind (cool, cute, freaky, scary, ugly, badass) and even the newer drawn depictions of older mon tend to strictly focus on the one marketable aspect of each mon's new set-in-stone personality
For example, newer Charizard art would avoid going into something like pic related too often, Charizard's now meant to be vivid and flashy, not serious and menacing
