That said, why does it matter? Since Pokemon aren't bound by stats of numerical values in the anime, it makes sense for every Pokemon to have at least one ranged and one physical attack for different situations.

You need at least one long ranged attack. That was the issue with Iris's Excadrill, it had nothing but close range attacks until it learned Focus Blast.

You know, that's a very observant thing to notice. In all the threads where people make their hypothetical pokemon teams in the real world, no one talks about having a projectile move for at least every pokemon.

Because Hyper Beam was always the big bad super ultimate attack in the anime, so a pokemon that doesn't have a reputation for being super duper strong like Jynx using it looks weird.
