It's in human nature to eventually get sick of something if you get overexposed to it, think of things like using your most favorite song as a morning alarm, at first you'll think it's cool and that you're waking up in a great mood due to it but eventually you'll come to despise it. Same with trying to eat your favorite food every day, eventually the mere sight of it will be vomit inducing. Or a not so extreme example, when you discover a new song you love and you listen to it on loop for days, but weeks/months later you realize that unconsciously you haven't listened to it for several days. It's not that you stopped loving it, not at all, you still think that song is great but it doesn't give you that same initial super hype feeling anymore.
I'd wager it's the same with tattoos, I don't believe everyone who gets one starts to abhor it, but that initial "magic" of it, that "holy shit, I love this image, it looks so cool" does fade away. It's not that you stop caring, you still like it but it becomes a thing that's just "kinda there" and you live with it. I'd assume it also changes from person to person, I have friends with tattoos and some did grow incredibly sick of them while others still think it's a neat little thing and don't pay it much attention.
That's also why getting a tattoo and where is such a big decision, you have to really think it through, it's a lifelong commitment (I say lifelong because laser removals don't look that good).
