Since Gen 8 introduced square shinies to supplement the star ones, I propose the following:-

>one more *shape* shinies
>each shiny gets its own unique coloring

In essence, each pokemon will now have three shiny variations, each one having a unique shape sparkles. What do you think?

Or what about super shinies, which are basically a second, different color shiny that's at half the rate of a regular shiny

There’s only one shiny color, but two shiny sparkles (star and square). Make one more shiny sparkle, and give unique shiny color combinations to each sparkle.

No, bad idea to make anything rarer than the other, although the standard star shinies will pretty much be the “common” ones.

I honestly could go for more shiny variations on Pokémon. Like maybe you have Shining (shiny) Pokémon and then Black (literally all black) Pokémon and then something like Hue (hue shifted up by 100) Pokémon. With unique particle effects as well; sounds like a cool thing to me.
This would mean that old shinies like black Charizard would go into the Black category and we get the purple Charizard from GSC back as our Shining Charizard.

It sounds to me you aren't aware that square shinies are already rarer than star shinies. You're 8 times more likely to get star than square in raids and breeding while you're 8 times more likely to get square than star in raw wild encounters. Square is meant to reward non-controlled shiny encounters.

If you like this idea, you should check out Coromon. It has a system almost exactly like what yiu just described. There are 2 types of shininess with different colors and rarities, shinies also get a boost to the game's EV equivalent.

They're still going to be injected with reckless abandon and you absolutely know the rarest effects will be injected more commonly.
You're never going back to the time you though shinies were actually worth something mate, because for a start, they never were.

No, squares were meant to be a flat 1/16th chance of happening for any encounter. They buggered up the code for the wild pokémon effect determination, it's almost impossible to get stars from RE/OW battles (17m to 1 I think were the rough numbers), but they meant it to be the same as Raids and Hatching.

Should've said, the more common shiny type in it has a spawn rate of about 1/31, and eventually there is a way to make non-shinies into shinies by paying a lot of in-game currency, so it's less of a random rare advantage and more of a huntable power boost.
