And MY point is that they didn’t wait for the next opportunity to give Zacian, Zamazenta,or even Eternatus technically, for their 700+ bst form unlike how they treated Kyurem, Zygarde or Necrozma. Sword and Shield’s story, and any additional forms that would have been introduced to wrap it up in a subsequent follow up, be it third version or DLC, was introduced in Sword and Shield 1.0.0 instead, you double nigger.

Man, they couldn't even get following Pokemon right when literally the previous game had them perfect (say what you want about LGPE, they had following mon' that could actually keep up with a 10 year old, you could ride some of them, and you could manage them from your menu instead of hunting down some retard to turn it on and off).

I don't think there's a pattern to it at all.
They're just introducing busted legends arbitrarily and 3 of them happened to be "first versions" by coincidence.

I think it's just Gamefreak being retarded with their balance. They may have genuinely believed that Xerneas and Yveltan, Groudon and Kyogre, and Zacian and Zamazenta would be relatively equal.

Charizard became popular without shilling, and then they shilled it like crazy in response.
They pick favorites for sure, but I'm not sure if they do that for mons that are meant to be counterparts. Especially new ones. And especially especially box legendaries. Because why would they make one so blatantly better if they want to sell both games?

Kyogre was long seen as the better legendary up until ORAS. Pre-split mechanics hurt Groudon in gen III and scarf water spout + perma rain were just so much better than anything Groudon could bring in gens IV and V. It took nerfing weather into the ground and introducing geoxern just to knock scarf spout Kyogre off its throne, and then primal reversions happened and their weather is basically only good while they're out so comparing the two came down to their individual strengths rather than what they could bring to a team. Primal reversion gifted Groudon with uber tier special attack, a new STAB, and a new ability that completely negated its biggest weakness. In an instant its mixed bag of a movepool became one of its greatest strengths while the more specialized Kyogre fell behind.

I wouldn't call Primal Groudon's design "favoritism", rather that it was an overadjustment for a duo that was previously a very one sided match-up.
