Personally, my favorite pokemon. Gen 1 had quite a bit of weird unappealing designs (Jynx, mr. mime are examples of that.) But this one is definitely one of the best. It kind of gets annoying when people give it hate just because of its popularity. Also, it has a great shiny!

Technically, the series never implied he wasn't a dragon. He's officially just the "Flame Pokemon". And they finally did make him a Dragon Type just by turning him blue which makes no sense. So the design obviously was meant to evoke a dragon (the wings and maw) and only just recently confirmed it.

The only reason why Charizard still isn't Fire/Dragon is because of Game Freak's autism, no other reason. A non-autistic company would've made Zard an actual dragon in the 1st place. If not, they would've changed it by now
