Why didn't the Pokemon Switch games shatter records to become the best selling series installment like most Nintendo games did?

MK8 on the WiiU sold over 8 million copies, so it pretty much neck-and-neck with MKWii.

And since the pic didnt say it, RBG sold 31.3 million copies and GSC sold 23.1 million. Sun and Moon sold about 16 million

None of those are comparable except for AC, and even then that's stretching it. 3DS had a way lower installbase than the Wii, and with AC it basically became a meme. Everyone was talking about only it on twitter, supported by how the lockdown was a thing so people couldn't even go outside. It literally has the same problems with swsh such as cut content. This comparison is shit.

Considering Fire Emblem Three Houses and Kirby Star Allies both failed to break records and Animal Crossing only did thanks to Covid, it's more likely that the "spent last decade on handhelds" franchises simply had a growth floor alot less intense than the others.
