During Gen 5 a massive earthquake hit Japan, fucking up its economy and throwing the BW anime into a tizzy. It's pretty clear why TPC would pivot and play things safe to get easy money after something like that.
Of course most people will only look at BW itself to support their own weird agendas, whether it'd be unovabortions trying to make their favorite game look like an underdog or unova haters looking to shit on the games.
