I honestly think they just forgot about it, gen 4 had a lot of Dex filler the generation before they decided to start giving usual filler archetypes good stats/moves/abilities. As a result a lot of it gets swept under the rug when considerations for returning mins for regional dexes are made.

There’s definitely something off there though I think it was a conscious decision made to preserve Glameow’s distinctive head silhouette similar to how Shounen Protags hair doesn’t necessarily look different regardless of the angle they are drawn from.

Because it's attached to Purugly.
Maybe in Gen 9 per >>45352455 it'll get a regional evolution that differs from Purugly like Perrserker and Runerigus.

I hate the fact that there's no Glameow or Stunky in Platinum, it's like Hoenn without Zigzagoon or Poochyena, it makes you feel like soemthing's off

Because GF has made multitudes of cat pokemon since that don't evolve into fat disgusting slobs

That said I personally prefer the line over alolan meowth/persian and purrloin
