The anime storyline is written after the game so they have time to actually polish it out. Would've liked this story in the games too, but it's way easier to change something that already exists than to make something from scratch.

Rose's logic is completely retarded and rushed. "Infinite energy source" would never ever magically stop workplace accidents from happening. At best it means an entire industry would suddenly dry up and people would go jobless.

The anime also has Rose talk like the reason he has groomed trainers into champions for years is so he could find someone good enough to beat Eternatus even thoug he didn't even have or know about Eternatus til a few months ago, bad continuity.

It's all still bad, just bad in different ways, Ashnime people still autistic following a baby show.

This, the pokemon world is nearly perfect compared to other settings. I get that it's for kids, but still. It would make a lot of villains more believable if the setting was darker.
Another option would be to have a story that doesn't take itself very seriously (think Team Skull).

His father died specifically because there was an accident at the mines, which are a notoriously dangerous place in terms of work irl. They were mining for coal obviously, thus they were supplying energy to the region. He wanted to avoid more people going through what he did but he can't just STOP the entire coal industry because the region needs the energy, so he instead tries to find a way to remove the need for it-which turned out to be Eternatus supplying infinite Dynamax energy, which could be converted into standard energy.
It was never about standard workplace accidents, this is specifically about how dangerous it is for workers to obtain the energy for the region, and Rose not wanting shit like that to happen again. And you think he can't find them other jobs? Macro Cosmos runs half the fucking region had has half a dozen branches dealing in wildly different fields. The fact that a plot point from the fucking Ashnime went over your head says more about you than it does the show.

You can't even recognize the cliche as fuck end justify the means? His rationing is that a few deaths now form the rampaging Pokemon will be worth it to make sure that no one else dies in the mines for the long run. The rampaging Pokemon can be dealt with by the strong trainers he's nurtured, the mines collapsing is probably always going to be a risk given that it hasn't been solved already even with the Pokemon world's advanced tech.
Is this shitty reasoning? Yes! That's why he's the villain, and that's why this line of reasoning is used for so many villains. It's short-sighted and foolhardy to largely place the lives of people who died under one circumstance over ones who died under another, betraying his status as a genius and the CEO of the biggest company in Pokemon to appear thus far, but it's like that because he fucking LOST his dad to a freak accident when he was a child.
I can't believe I have to explain a trope as old as storytelling to you.

He probably would if his dad died because of it. He even owns a transport sector for both air and land. But no one close to him died because of it, so he's not.

It can't even be relied upon to have basic consistent logic (Meowth passes thru the audience barrier, Eternatus somehow can't shortly after, Eternatus cannon makes Meowth dynamax but has no effect on Dragonite because the plot needed it to hurt him, etc etc)

It's been nothing but a mess. It is arguably even worse than how SM did the Lusamine story.

I disagree. It's not the best plot, and it's not even close the being special in any capacity, but it's certainly serviceable and way better handled than the game's plot. I guess we can leave it at that.

If Meowth was on the other side of the barrier, why did the laser hit him? Besides he clearly walks thru the floor area, which is nearly in the same direction of where Eternatus tried to break thru, Also Meowth started to glow and transform fairly fast, Dragonite straight up just falls like he got shot by a cannon and is still clearly with his normal mental faculties instead of stunned then rampaging like Meowth.

Now that I think about it, since every shot of Eternatus' energy had to go through the stadium first, they should've been stopped. So I actually propose a new theory-there's a difference between Eternatus' Energy shots and Eternatus' Actual Attacks. This would explain why Meowth transformed but Dragonite was seemingly hurt.
Stilll, it is a hole in the continuity, and the fact that it can only be explained by a hypothetical just makes it look worse. I concede this point, but its still just a small point in the story anyways. Meowth probably won't be doing anything but chasing TR for the rest of the arc, and Eternatus broke out almost immediately anyways. It doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

Lysandre's motivations make sense in the games: remove worthless people as overpopulation is taxing on the environment. Not hard to understand from an extremist point of view.
The problem with him in-game is that the people he deems worthy and thus will get to survive the massacre, see Team Flare, are the most incompetent, selfish people imaginable. Only reason they get to survive is because they fund him.
Which makes him seem like a total hypocrite.

And the fact that the Pokémon world is portrayed as nothing but an utopia also undermines him.

Not that guy but you're wrong about this for 2 reasons: -team- grunts wouldn't exist if the world was an utopia. Many join, and this is especially true for Skull, because they are reject of society and find it easier to do evil. The second reason is presented to you by the game itself in Lumiose. If it was an utopia then a girl like Emma,with no money for food or even a single Pokemon that has to get protected by her Espurr and children younger than her and eat from the trash shouldn't exist.
Lysandre is expanded on in the anime: he was a benefactor and helped thousands of people with their lives. He wanted them to also help others but of course his desires weren't going to happen and people started asked for more and more and more and more without qualms. He had enough. He is also right in the fact that Pokemon are the most dangerous thing on the planet.

If other regions had such a problem with outcasts who would rather do bad things than associate with people, why are the only ones we meet that fall under this the grunts of evil teams, half of which could outright be spun as a bunch of naive people thinking they were doing some bad for the sake of a greater good (Magma and Aqua, Plasma, Aether, Macro Cosmos if you count that)? If energy was such a huge problem for Galar (or the dangers of getting energy, as expounded in the anime), why wasn't this never shown in the stories of the games?
the fact that the closest we get to interacting with issues that drive people like Lysandre or Rose to do the shit they did is a short postgame quest and a literal hallway of a town (Spikemuth) really dampens the overall message and only serves to make them look like utter lunatics.

Not really the case for Team Flare. The grunts there are most likely the most well off people in the entire region. I would argue that it is only Team Skull this is the case for, other grunts don't really seem to have become grunts as a final desperate option. And SM came after XY anyway so it is at best revisionism.

So what happens to Eternatus after this? It seems too cruel to seal it again for another madman like Rose to try and abuse it, in the game we're forced to capture it because if we let it roam free it could go out of control again, it's the same excuse they give for Necrozma in gen 7 however in Necrozma's case it's in severe pain due to not having it's light and in a really fucked up thing in game there's no way to take that pain away by being able to return it to it's natural form, it's stuck as Dawn/Dusk forever here.

Saving the rich people is something that you would see in another media, like the movie 2012, it's a limit you give for not letting anyone else enter, without using your emotions or feelings. It's not the best choice, but it's something that could be done in those situations. Like Thanos killing 50% of the life in the universe, without considering who would be worth or not. Also having moneys from the richest assures you to have the highest budget and resources to make your plan in the best way and to be prepared to survive after.

Mining? You're going underground, through a small, cramped opening that you and a bunch of your buddies made yourself and continue to make, and you have no idea if you'll hit some gas that will kill all of you, or if the damn thing will simply give out while you and all your friends are still there. Driving and assembly lines can be relatively safe with trained hands and the right precautions, but mining is inherently dangerous and will remain dangerous for the foreseeable future.

Compounding the issue is that the mining is done to supply the energy needs for the region. It is effectively the very backbone by which all of modern society is built upon, every creature comfort, every medical advancement, every sophisticated form of communication. Without energy there is none of it, and to make all of society tacitly complicit with the inherit danger those miners put themselves through to supply it is truly abhorrent. You can choose not to drive, you can choose not to buy goods tainted with blood, and still participate in society. But you can't choose not to partake of energy tainted with the blood of miners who died to produce it.

In the end, it's all about stripping the element of necessity from those mining deaths.

I honestly think that's the point, Lysandre's views align very well with ancaps of the day, right down to the failures of charity he described and his views of the unproductive as societal parasites. There's a grunt that says joining required a payment of 5m in currency, and we compare that with Lysandre's views it's likely an intentionally high initiation fee to prove that they're productive. Unfortunately, monetary wealth is a very poor indicator of actual productivity, especially in a post-societal world that Lysandre intended to create, and what he ended up with for goons was a large group of goons that acted selfishly and he was fine with it because he assumed EVERYONE acted selfishly and that at least his goons could survive on their own wits.

Is it flawed? Absolutely. It's intended to be. XY's story was GF playing armchair politics ala BW.

That still makes no sense. The industry drying up still does put people out of work and "infinite energy" doesn't mean they'll be getting it for free either, and they still need a job to pay their mortgage/rent and other non-electrical utilities (water, gas, etc).
