It’s been a thing since TR was made. People tested it with Deoxys-Speed a decade ago and it outspeeds TR.

If I had to guess, when calculating turn order in Trick Room, it probably takes a big number and subtracts a Pokémon's speed from it, and that's it's defacto speed.

But with a big enough number, the subtraction overflows and you end up with some crazy overflow bajilliondy speed.

Holy shit, that's actually so hilarious I actually hope they don't patch it.

It requires max boosted speed on already the fastest pokemon in the game so it's not like it ever matters in gameplay.

The way trick room works is by taking a number and subtracting the speed of the pokemon from that number.

When you get x4 speed with max speed Regieleki, you have a number higher than what the game can count.

10000 - 1809 = 8191

8191 is the highest number that can be represented with 13 bits

So above that results in an overflow and TR doesn’t affect the Pokemon.
