>>45358047On one hand it's nice to have a variety of body types as a basic character design rule, lest you have a Sailor Moon situation where all of their faces and bodies are nearly identical. On the other hand I noticed it seemed kind of hit or miss in SwSh. In anime it's hard to pull off body types without making it look like shit because the style is naturally inclined towards the generic attractive features that's so prevalent. Especially when you have an especially cutesy art style to work with, it gets pretty tricky to pull off "unconventional" without having it look like shit.
Rose is one of the better examples of being able to pull it off, but a lot of the generic NPC trainers look goofy as fuck. Maybe it was meant to be a dig at how British people look.
How come everyone who complains about the character design choices now when we've always had fat old men like Wattson and Chuck and Crasher Wake? It isn't like SwSh is the first to make "ugly" designs. Is it because of Mr. Turner or something?
