these are just 1-note characters with no proper writing or development. they just there to cheer you up
that's why Blue still popular because his personality is unique and interesting

Hau wasn't actually the champion, but he at least acted like he could be one.

Compared to Hop, he has actual interactions with other characters like Kukui and Gladion, rather than just crying about getting his ass kicked all the time. His team also had actual movesets and he wasn't afraid to kick your shit in (and didn't require beating most of the time, whereas you HAVE to beat Hop every bridge you meet).
Hau isn't a retarded motherfucker that spams Body Slam on steel types for 9% of their HP for the entirety of the finale.

He wasn't the champion though, it was the same situation as end of SM but Kukui let Hau challenge you to become the first Alolan champion, instead of challenging you himself to avoid just handing you the title.

Technically Hau wasn’t champion, he was just the last opponent you had to fight to become the first champion.

As for Hop, he’s a meme. He’s self aware enough to realize that he was never a match for you. So he just gives up and becomes a professor. I appreciate that he has character development

Except I don't like Hop. Hau is similar in that he want to be as good as his granddad, but hes still humble and has having fun as a top priority while going for the champion title.
