The "only 100 exist" thing in the op refers to how there are only 100 or so PSA 10 graded charizards according to the PSA guys. Normalfags won't catch onto that and will further increase the baseline price for even shit condition prints of the card until this fad dies out.
Also the card was always super shitty even back then. The only time it was ever good was if you misinterpreted a mistranslation of Brock's Ninetales, and even then it's only good because of Blastoise. There are PLENTY cards that are objectively rarer than this card, and that's not even counting rare tournment promos like tropical beach, but nobody cares because "muh nostalgia".
