>>45381049>pure remakeI don't think even Game Freak knew what the fuck Let's Go was supposed to be but it sure ain't no pure remake. To me this is why the "but X feature wasn't in the original games!" cope argument just doesn't fucking land, at all. If they're trying to play it close to the original source material, then who the FUCK is Trace, why has he completely neutered the rival story (one of the biggest things genwunners get a boner about) and why do the original player characters show up as some additional NPCs? How come we can have Mega Evolution, but not Abilities (which are by no means too complicated for the games supposedly simplified style)?
In games like FireRed/LeafGreen, some features were locked until post-game, to keep a level of authenticity to the main campaign. With LGPE, Game Freak were not trying to create anything resembling an "authentic" Kanto experience. The features they kept and the features they axed were based not on whether they were in gen 1, but on how lazily they could be implemented.
With that being said I didn't actually hate them as an experience, but it's hard not to feel jaded about it. And I don't buy the "it's aimed at super young kids" argument either - all Pokemon games are, and a remake of a beloved 20+ year old game probably isn't the time and place to double down on the babying shit.
