Back in the rocket days you had unlimited uses of trainers, now the strongest type of trainer cards (supporters) are limited to once per turn and that rule is written on the card
EX, GX and V pokemon give 2 prizes when knocked out, that's also written on them
You've got prism star pokemon, tag team pokemon, Vmax, etc. you just need a glance at them to understand their specific rule.
Everything else about the game hasn't changed much if at all, the main difference now is that you can't attack nor play supporters during the first turn
