It's just whatever is legal on a link battle.
If for whatever reason you wanted to play Smogon on cart, it would have to be a link battle, so they use that.

Considering that said wall set is the most consistent way to stop Kyurem-Black from tearing OU a new one (as if he hasn't done that already), it makes sense. Besides one Drain Punch or CC from Buzzwole sends shit flying anyway so he's half offensive half defensive.

I wish they wouldn't so that Smogon would be forced to get over their autism and respect the distribution cut.
GF doesn't make a lot of good choices in terms of competitive, but limiting certain moves that got too much distribution was one of them.

Buzzwole just stands there expressionlessly while watching its opponents slowly die, shrugging off any hits they throw at it, occasionally getting bored and sitting down.

OP is talking about the gen 7 set.
Buzzwole doesn't even have a standard set in gen 8, and its usage stats only list it as using Toxic 12% of the time.

It’s all because of Sejun Park. In Gen V he ran eviolite follow me Magmar in VGC, which you could only get from purifying one in the GBA games (his was also injected because of an illegal IV combination you could never roll on it in gen 3). So from XY onward they decided it had to originate in the home game, and SWSH onward you have to remove all past-gen moves.

It actually wasn't impossible. Wouldn't have gotten past the hack checker if it was.
It was just infinitesimally unlikely.
Also, I'm pretty sure Wolfe Glick won in 2016 with an injected event Raichu.

This. You can inject stuff that technically shouldn’t count according to Pokegen or Pkhex, and it’ll still pass. GF’s hack checking isnt 1:1, they stopped shiny Jirachi from RS from passing through Bank even though it was legal from the Colo bonus disc.
