Why is /vp/ the only place I see posters vehemently claim Pokemon isn’t a children’s franchise or isn’t child focused? Why are posters here so hellbent on this stance?

My problem with it is more the implication that older people can't enjoy kiddy things, or that poor quality can be excused by simply saying it's for kids. These are adults who are making these games
It was a franchise for everyone years ago, but Gen 7 onwards really has changed its attitude on that. It's a little tragic, honestly

That wasn’t the point, the other anon claimed they “have seen literally no one here deny that pokemon is a children's franchise” in which I showed them that it does in fact happen. Although, it’s usually in response to someone saying that Pokemon is a children’s franchise, which still doesn’t make sense.

Its less that the games are child focus but rather that they're manchild focused. That's why the games are worse and the difficulty is even more nonexistent. Manchildren, coomers, and consumers will eat shit on a plate and defend it. Children will just stop asking their parents for new pokemon games. You can actually see this happen in real time if you've played the tcg. There used to be a ton of really young kids playing the game and going to events until around 2012ish. Around that time kids stopped giving a shit to the same degree. If you go to events now, barring the very large one, you will be hard pressed to find more than 3 junior players outside of areas like Utah. On the flipside you'll find more man children than ever, despite the game getting far less complex and interesting. You can see the same shit happening in animation. Stuff like Steven universe and gravity falls is clearly aiming for the manchild and their woman equivalent target with all the gay shit they shove in. Kids aren't watching it opting for good shit like anime. Its a gross trend.
