When is it acceptable to have a legendary on your team? What about in "self-insert" scenarios?

Something being legendary doesn't make it good.

All legendary trios in the vein of the Legendary Birds, Lake Trio, Regi Trio, etc are allowed, but only one per team

also Zapdos and Azelf banned too good

Whenever the fuck you want dude it's your adventure. I just played through Shield with Kubfu the whole way (for some reason I thought it had to be Level 60 to evolve so it held Eviolite most of the way) and had a good time. You do you.

When ever you want I use them in casuals all the time and my main team in ranked. I think in crown tundra it's the first time that canonically you are expected to walk around with practically a full team of them.

I personally only allow one minor legendaries on my teams (Which I usually never do anyways). Do what you want though, if it makes the game more fun to you then that's a good thing

I prefer to fill my teams with pokemon I have yet to use, so I'm more in favor of using more obscure mons to help with type coverage than legendaries

Always. If anything, it almost feels weird to purposefully avoid using the cool new box legendary, unless you genuinely hate it. Not like the main story will get that much easier anyway.
Might be a different story if you're doing a challenge run or something though

I played with speed way up on Android often. I recently installed citra on my PC and decided to play on normal speed. Let me tell you, there is something to be said about playing on normal speed. I miss just hearing the game audio lol. The music is really good sometimes. If you are grinding maybe speed it up, but i have made it a point to play pokemon on regular speed this time around and it has been such a cool and relaxing experience.

But for me, I like using Victini in BW (one of my favorites)
Zekrom/Reshiram in BW (but only vs. N and Ghetsis)
Solgaleo/Lunana in Rainbow Rocket Episode
Mew in Insurgence
and I never had the chance but I'd use Marshadow as well ingame (my favorite mon)

Phione, 10% Zygarde, and Type: Null without Eviolite are the only ones that I can use and not feel like a tool for using, mostly because of BST.
