I guess I'm kind of the opposite of your experiences.
>be in 5th or 6th grade can't exactly remember
>was like the pokemon guru to my same grade friends and younger kids.
>internet and sources were very valuable back then since only a small% of people had access to it and even then they needed to know how to find it
>discover you could get a johto starter by completing the pokedex in emerald
>proceed to tell my brethren I can get them totodile/cyndaquil and chikorita if they handed me their game for the weekend
>got 7 emerald, 2 fire red, 3 leaf greens and 1 ruby copies
>Finished my dex and 2 of the emerald copies that were the closest to completion
>initiatefullautismtrade&completedexmode.gif
>it's sunday afternoon and I finished up
>noticed some of the games had random shinies in it (poochyena, zigzagoon, carvanha, swablu and a fucking magikarp)
>Iwantallofthem.jpeg
>proceeded to try and find out any type of duplicating glitch like in gold and silver.
>find the battle frontier clone glitch on old ass youtube
>proceeded to trade every shiny to all the different copies of the game (and I had a random shiny zubat and shiny duskull from my version of Ruby)
>gave everyone who trusted me with their game a cyndaquil/totodile/chikorita and one of each shiny and received one of each as well
>mondayarrives.png
>friends and kids gathered around me asking if I got it and to have their games back
>decided to just hand them their games and not say a single word
>confusedworriedfaces.gif
>the look on their faces once they realize what I had given them
>I swear if they could crown me as king of the world that day that's what I would be.
>They threw me a fucking party for it
Never forgot those days and memories... Just wished we had someway of getting access to the events like Birth Island, Navel Rock, Faraway Island and Southern Island.
Lucas, John, Rachel, and the other kids whose names I forgot, if you're here, you're welcome! It was my pleasure! Thanks for the party!
