So stupid question: Once you have a sufficient amount of theme decks, what packs are best to use my coins on? I was originally being autistic trying to get all the theme decks but thanks to power creep I know to just play Charizard or Dragonite and be done with it.

What packs are best to use my coins on and what are the chase cards in each set that I might pull?

Your best bet right now is probably to get darkness ablaze or unbroken bonds for dedenne/crobat. An upcoming battle arena deck has adp and zacians + 4 jirachi (stellar wish) and staple supporters so pick that up. Also >>45344396

I usually avoid these threads because I have a bit of a spending problem and I don’t need any more impulse-fuel but I want to show off some cards goddammit.
I love my Neo Revelation Ho-Oh print. It has a very visible and prominent holofoil swirl in the upper left corner but even better is one of the small circle shapes in the holofoil is aligned perfectly with his iris, it really looks amazing when it catches light from the right angle.

Thanks though I’m not a fan of graded cards, I like to display my cards together in a binder. Also there’s a mark on the back that would probably drop him a few grades below what I consider worth grading anyways.

Right now all those cards are being graded, I don't expect anything to come back a 10, that'd be a miracle, but he will probably get a 7. Whatever the price is when I get him back, if the price doesn't crash too hard from current, I'll sell him for that plus 50 bucks off for being a 4chan anon.

i see your point but i would have to disagree because pokemon cards are seen a lot different by the masses compared to the hated prequels from star wars and "who" (the average consumer doesnt know what spawn is let alone that its a comic series)
base set pokemon cards have always been loved and so will the reprints no matter how many times they print them

Ho-oh anon back again, I’ve been in the process of completing the first 3 neo sets in one binder for quite some time, many of the cards I’ve had for a long time but it’s takes some time and a good amount of money. I’m currently about 90% there, the only holo I’m missing currently is Shining Magikarp. Posting the holofoil spread from Discovery because it’s my all time favorite set and I’m kinda drunk.

I’m pretty godless but I was a catholic school kid so I think naming stuff after the Bible for aesthetic purposes is cool, probably why I like Eva so much. Seems like TPCi has decided that they will reprint any set in high demand, be it English or Japanese so you should be able to pick up shiny star V close to MSRP when the new wave happens.

Yes Kanazawa box will be worth more as it's promotional but Shiny Star V might have cards you'd rather have in your collection. Personally I'd rather have Shiny Star V as I like the actual cards and artwork better.

Naturally some people will prefer Kanazawa promos but in the end if you just buy expensive cards with little to no attachment you'll get burned out of the hobby quickly.

I wouldn’t consider anything from the recent sets worth collecting but that might just be me. The current design philosophy of bloated sets with dozens and dozens of secret rares is a complete turn off for me. It’s too gaudy/tacky for me, especially the ugly CG art and rainbow shit.

You should really start thinking of a focus, I always prefer collecting toward a goal, it makes things easier and more satisfying as well. It can be anything, only cards from specific eras, complete sets, your favorite Pokémon, or smaller scale things that are easy to start with like just filling a binder page for each type with cards you like, or working towards completing the Pokédex of your favorite generation in card form :)

Just look up packs you can find that you think look cool. Look up setlists online and find ones that appeal to you. Or look up Pokemon you like and as long as it isn't stuff like Charizard get cards for them. You'll probably want sleeves at least, and maybe a binder. You could maybe buy an elite trainer box, you get 8 packs, some sleeves and a nice box but it may be a bit overpriced as it's padded out with damage counters that are useless if you aren't playing the game.
