Game Informer interviewed TPCI and asked them why Sword and Shield went with DLC instead of a third game

Okay, I didn't buy the DLC but this seems way more difficult to do correctly compared to just making a new game or forcing you to capture things and grind up all over again and is my biggest question about their decision.
Was there any reason to play either DLC outside of muh wild area and muh dynamax adventure, any sense of player progression attached at all, or were you just able to just steamroll through both of the DLC's solo content with your level 80+ pokemon that you got within a week out of the past year that the core game has been released?

I bought the dlc and all but this approach sounds so retarded, “use your old Pokémon” literally where? There’s like 3 battles in both dlc, it sounds dumb as fuck, I would of enjoyed more if there was a 3rd version were those added Pokémon could be catch from the beginning and even get the chance to fight the exclusive gym leaders, why the fuck would I want to catch a Metagross when I have beaten the game and I won’t be able to use it anymore?

There was not. The DLC exists to make legends obtainable and to obtain gen 8 legends. All you'd have to do is gen them in (or have someone else gen them) and you can skip the DLC.

If you are a tard who buys on launch the DLC model is better, If you were smart enough to wait for third version then you are getting an objectively worse deal as a complete game will now cost you 80 bucks.

It's ludicrous paying double for a franchise whose games have half the effort going into them.

Its not a bad idea, too many people who wait out for the 3rd games frlt salty that noe they're doing this model it stops them from saving money through patience. What was once the same price for a little patience is now 30 dollars ontop the base game and the wait was worthless.
For people who buy v1 and v2 games bith this works tremendously, and for gf it works because it sounds easier to make money off new adventures than selling the new game + for full ticket price to pensive shoppers or peoppe who didnt like it enough to buy a 2nd time.
If only GF hadn't lied to the fans about SwSh and its content esrlier on it wouldn't be as villified

Its supposed to be scaled down to your general level. Its like how the in game wild area takes your badge number into considerstion for the wild Pokemon levels. Except it does it way worse in the DLC. It's a fraction of content cut that was just resold as DLC that's made to fit right in the middle of the main campaign as side quests.

One thing I will say I like how they handled the online Players Cups. VGC isn't the biggest scene I know but the more events they do and the more streaming/coverage and advertising of it they do the bigger their own meta will get.
