>>45412199What do you want out of Pokemon, in all honesty? I personally think the games have been mostly fine if a bit low quality, even since the first game. I personally think HGSS to B2W2 was the peak of the franchise, but I also thought around that time the games were coming out a bit too fast. I'd be fine with Pokemon if it came out once a console generation, but as it stands they have to keep making new shit constantly to keep up with the toy shilling marketing scheme 2-3 year cycle. I'd unironically feel better about the state of the franchise if it started making less money off merchandise. Then TPC wouldn't have a good excuse to want constant new shit and Nintendo could give them more reasonable once a generation deadlines like they do with their own big projects. Money doesn't mean creativity, look at every other major franchise out there, most of them are incredibly stale or sanitized in order to make more money. Not to mention, it's Nintendo who decided the budget, and this is the company that made almost the entire budget of BotW back on the sales of the Wii U version alone. They made back the budget of one of the most expensive games they've made on one of the worst selling consoles they released. GF might be paid well, but they don't have the money to throw around to get the time and staff needed. They're also not wizards like HAL or Monolith Soft either. Nothing here adds up to the basic expectation that SS would have been more than an up-scaled 3DS game. I expected that and when I first saw it I was basically unsurprised. The reality of the situation is people had way too high expectations, and the circumstances meant that GF probably didn't even meet their own much lower expectations. You want to fix Pokemon, stop buying everything. Or maybe even just buy some games but nothing else, basically show them that we don't want to be sold toys. But I'm preaching to the choir there, whatever.
