B2/W2 were the last games with soul. Not because muh nostalgia or muh sprites, but because they were the last games that seemed to have real effort put into them before Pokemon turned into what feels like a yearly release series like Fifa or something. Sh/Sw have added a lot of cool features, QoL stuff, and I don’t care that there’s better looking Switch games, but it’s objectively not as good as Emerald or Platinum from a exploration/difficulty perspective and there’s nothing new or innovative story wise like Gen 5.
