The Gym Challenge is easily one of the best things of Gen 8, these guys were awesome.
ESPECIALLY Piers, fucking based.

Coomers don’t care but I actually don’t like how Nessa uses Water puns. Though I do love how mad she gets.

They are bland, have poorly thrown together teams this being a BIG issue with the whole focus of the game being the gym leader challenge and the pokemon league. Literally 0 redeeming qualities other than Nessa and Bea being intentionally made as r34 bait

It was a Weather based Gym with dragons of those types.
Each trainer had a different weather type to deal with while Raihan was specifically Sandstorm.

His league match was a clusterfuck since he essentially had weather triggering dragons and torkoal

This is something that I actually appreciated since I feel like a few of the new gen pokemon that had gigantamax forms looked underwhelming in their fully evolved forms because they were most probablyworked backwards from their gigantamax forms. In that sense, Polteageist and Frosmoth were actually two of the best designed fully evolved new pokemon. That said, gigantamax forms should definitely have been added for them in the DLC and they should become the gym leader's new ace.

I actually really liked the gym leaders. Its unfortunate the games do them terrible justice. Having Piers do that awkward as fuck mouth-moving-but-no-singing performance was a crime. They could have figured something out. Bea and Nessa are straight flames and i want to rub them down in baby oil.
