Going further than that would undermine the individuality of the Pokémon which is always the real star of the match. At most, I could see an overhauling of the taunt system, getting them to be Cheers that act as light buffs for the Pokémon that can only be used once every minute or so, with proper balance done to deal with that, but even then that isn't really a very Pokémon specific gimmick, merely a loose way of making Trainer seem important.
