He's technical & rewarding to get good at despite the difficult matchups

The storylines, the characters, the fights, the pokemon designs, the laidback adventure, etc
Even at its worst, it's just a really comfy franchise. I replay the games constantly, I rarely touch other stuff at this point. I just really like going through the pokemon world.
