I just want a fucking water stone. If I was playing the game outside of normally instead of feeling the need to handicap myself with stupid challenge (soloing each gym with a mon of their type) I'd be doing that already.

Not a thing although trading items with mail could have been cool for things like this, you could trade the already evolved pokemon from RGBY with the time capsule which in itself is a big part of the gen 2 experience. But also it isn't THAT hard, catch a marill or whatever trash Bill's Grandpa asks for and you're done.

Go to route 42.
Register Fisherman Tully in your phone.
Fly back to your home in New Bark Town
Switch daylight savings time on and off repeatedly. There's a glitch in Crystal where you get a phonecall immediately after doing that.
Repeat until Tully gives you a water stone.

Then change it it's not like there aren't a million tutorials on how to replace batteries of GB/C cartridges specifically catered to pokemon, the problem here is your laziness, you can have it done in an afternoon and transfer back some tough kanto mon from GSC to yellow speed running. Assuming you want it to battle against Misty just use Gyarados, Tentacruel (this covers both water and psychic types), Lapras or Suicune you sperg.
