My least favorite arc was probably the xy arc due to its dreary tone.
My favorite arc was the diamond, pearl and platinum arcs, due to the main characters and how they interacted with each other.

So far I'm liking the current arc and is really looking forward seeing what comes next.

Not a big fan of them naming every Trainer after the games. Brendan and May are canonical names but they chose to call them Ruby and Sapphire.

...you do know that the ashnime isn't actually as bad as people make it out to be? That's just a bad joke that went viral among people most of whom probably watched half an episode ten years ago.
Anyways, what would you compare the manga to? Is it anything like the "Pokemon Festival of Champions" manga?

One good place is to start at chapter one. The manga loosely follows the plot of each game, where each game is an arc with the protagonists being the main characters for that arc. Most arcs can be read by themselves, although there is often callbacks to previous arcs and characters do sometimes come back later. Each arc can also vary a lot in tone. The current arc is the sword and shield arc.

Just like festivals of champions it focuses a lot on the characters rather then the battles. The battles do play a major role and they are about as dynamic, with unconventional tactics being used the just wouldn't be possible in the game.

I've always found it really strange how in American media violence is absolutely acceptable even in kids cartoons like Tom and Jerry while mild female fanservice is treated as the most sinful sin ever. I really don't understand this kind of logic.

I remember enjoying this series up to Platinum, but I remember not liking that Sird chick. She just kept showing up and getting shilled, and then she just kind of got swept away.

I also don't like how Agatha has apparently never showed up again.

Currently on the DPPT arc right now, and it might be my favorite of the series. The companionship between the protags and their mons are really nice, and the battles are more faithful to the games while still being fairly creative.

They're different beasts honestly. The manga is darker and a lot more faster-paced. It very often downplays the gym leader stuff to focus on defeating the evil team. If the ashnime's greatest sin is taking things too slow, then the manga's greatest sin is going too fast.

Gold arc and R/S arc were pure kino. Most of the rest were quite good too. I don’t like the Emerald, FRLG, HGSS or XY arcs though.

RS is great minus the dbz training island and celebi asspull. I liked how they managed to give every character agency, instead of making them completely impotent as in the game where the protagonist solves all like a 120% mary sue/gary stu

where can I read Adventures?

I stopped when Black/White translations were awfully handled (several missing chapters in the middle). I finished ORAS since that was relatively short and readily available. I heard they went back and tried to tie up the loose ends with Black2/White2 after the author had to put that on hiatus.
